Timeline of De Lorme Weddings, spanning from conception to present time.

Nineteeth Century

The business was concieved at the latter end of the 19th century. This element is significant in that many of the establishing designs are tinkered or altered to suit more modern designs in the present day studio.

Pre 1890s

1873: Ludivine Irene De Lorme born in Paris, France, to Reynaud De Lorme and Irene De Lorme.
1975: Mathilde De Lorme born in Paris, France.

1890s

1893: Ludivine, admist an apprenticeship as a seamstress, suggests to her younger sister, Mathilde, that they open a clothes designing business.
1894: These plans come to fruition, shortly before Ludivine's 21st birthday, and De Lorme Weddings is officially formed in November of 1894.

Twentieth Century

Most of the defining events of the business' history occured during the 20th century - but this list form allows for the timeline to be set out in a more easily understandable manner.

1900s

1900: Ludivine's first son, Jacques L'Artaire, born in Paris.

1903: Ludivine gives birth to twins Louisa (Juliette) and Gregoire L'Artaire.

1905: Ludivine's third son, Guillaume born.

1908: Ludivine's second, and last daughter Odette born.

1913: Ludivine's youngest son, Patrice born.
1914: The First World War breaks out and plans for the redevelopment of the new building are put on hold while Ludivine's husband goes to war.
1915:
1916:
1917: New arrives in the L'Artaire household that Louis has been KIA, and Ludivine decides to take a break from dressmaking for six months.

1925: Louisa inherits the business fully, and manages it with her aging aunt and cousin.
1926:
1927: Questions are raised by the family when Louisa begins to put on weight. Later in the year, media attention is drawn to the business when it is discovered Louisa is both a prostitute and expecting a child as a result of her undisclosed side-job. Her younger sister, Odette, takes over her position, and begins to train with her aunt and cousin.

1934: After seven years, Odette decides that this profession is not for her, and renounces her inheritance. For a while, the only owners of the business are Pascale and Mathilde. Desperate to keep the business in both lines of family heritage, Jacques furiously attempts to come to an agreement with his aunt, but to no avail.

1937:
1938: Delphine L'Artaire is born in Nice.
1939:

1940s

1940: Juliette L'Artaire is killed in WWII. The family grieves for their loss (despite the strained relationship with her at the time of her death) and business is halted as a result of the lack of business from the war.
1941 - 1943: Some dresses are made during this period, but on an as per request basis, and only select clients are able to get in touch with the De Lormes'.
1944: Shortly before Mathilde De Lorme dies, desperate, her nephew comes to an agreement with her that will allow his daughter, Delphine, to be trained by Pascale. Mathilde agrees. She dies later in the year.

1950s

1954: At age 16, Delphine L'Artaire begins training to become a co-owner of the business. Jacques agrees to pull her out of school, and Delphine devotes her time to dressmaking. Later in the year, Jacques commits suicide after discovering Beauvais was not his biological son.

1970s

1970: The first fourth generation co-owner, Charlotte Halifax is born. A still-childless Delphine, decides later in the year that Charlotte will be her replacement.
1974: The second fourth generation co-owner, Mathilde Devereux-De Lorme (the original Mathilde's grand-daughter) is born to Genevieve Devereux-De Lorme and Armand DeBlois.

1980s

1980:
1981: Pascale dies from a heart attack. Genevieve, though already well-versed and running her half of the business, takes over in May of that year. She and Delphine become widely known for their compatibility in business partnerships.

1986: Delphine begins training Charlotte.
1987:
1988: Charlotte's illegitimate daughter Therese Halifax is born, and though illegitimate, Charlotte makes a decision that it will be her daughter's call when the time comes to inherit the business or not.
1989: Genevieve begins training Mathilde.

1990s

1990:
1991: Delphine retires, leaving her half in Charlotte's hands. Delphine gives Charlotte strict instructions about who it should be passed to next.
1992: Odette dies of lung cancer in her sleep, age 84.
1993: Genevieve begins to instigate the handover so she can quietly retire.
1994: 100th birthday celebrations for the business are held in Paris. Inheritors in attendance: Delphine, Charlotte, Genevieve and Mathilde (II). Commissioned to design a dress for Eleanor Fitzwilliam.

Twenty-First Century
