Backstory

Brodie is the youngest of brothers David and Devon by almost eight years. She is Aunt to David's daughter, Ellie [b. 2008].

Brodie spent a lot of her early life traveling. Her father, Max Gibson, though Canadian by birth, married his New Zealand wife, Lillian Knox, in 1990. They moved to Mafeking, South Africa for her job, and also spent time in America (in fact a large portion of their time was spent in America both prior to Brodie's birth and after, hence her middle name of Dakota) and Canada, finally ending in Dublin, Ireland. They do, however, plan to return to New Zealand for some time in the near future.

Brodie met Ainsley in her second year of primary school in 1998. Ainsley was in her first year of primary school and the two met so long ago neither can remember exactly how it happened. The two were very close friends from this point out - spending most of their time together when they weren't in class and even electing to take classes together in Junior High wherever possible. Adele and her new partner, Ciaran, were very accepting of the friendship, and Adele's 70s hippy upbringing made her quite aware of the fact the friendship was more than just that.

The couple often took both girls and their youngest son on holiday. Brodie and Ainsley shared beds, spent most of their days together, shared secrets, and under the guise of more or less being best friends began to fall in love with one another. It was, however, an entirely co-dependent relationship. Neither party would realize the significance of their friendship until almost ten years later in late 2006 when Ainsley confessed to Brodie that she was in love with her.

It was long assumed by many parties that this was, in fact, the case. Though Brodie felt the same, it took her a little longer to come to terms with the fact laid out clear for her than she had anticipated. In June of 2007, Ainsley and her family uprooted and moved to London, and though Brodie unwillingly accepted this, she tried to move past whatever it was she had been having with her for the last five or six years.

Brodie's feelings were stronger than she realised, however, and moving past this was more difficult than she had realised it would be. She spent a lot of time considering what had happened but is quickly realising she loves Ainsley in the same capacity that Ainsley loves her.

Though in January of 2008, Brodie's mother Lillian (or Lily as she is known to most) decided that it was time to move back to New Zealand for a while. Brodie attempted to call Ainsley to inform her of this, though nothing so far has come of it, as Ainsley is unsure of how to proceed.
