Backstory

Eliza was born to Mary and Edward Gray on August 22nd, 1902. The third child but the first daughter of the still young couple, she was very much favored by her mother.

In 1923, upon arriving in France on her twenty first birthday, she met Amandine L'Artaire. Having decided to move to France to escape her overbearing parents, she arrived in France with a pre-arranged job as an aupair for a family living in the city. Amandine's grandson, Patrice, was still living at home with his mother and father, but at almost thirteen years younger than his oldest brother, the age gap had become so significant that his parents could no longer keep up with him. Amandine had hired the aupair under her own steam, without the permission of her son, Louis.

After these issues were resolved, Eliza set up home in the L'Artaire household. At the end of her first week looking after Patrice, Louis' second-eldest child returned home from university. This was Juliette. The two clicked immediately, and spent the entire afternoon together. Sunday was Eliza's only day off, so the two made plans to head into the city to go shopping. Eliza got a chance to practice better French, and Juliette was able to practice English. Little did Eliza know that already Juliette was practicing English in her night job as a female escort.

Juliette finally told Eliza what she had been doing, and as she was about to tell Eliza that she was planning to leave school and pursue the escort job full time, Eliza decided to join her. Juliette warned her not to tell Eliza's boss (and Juliette's father) about their plans, and urged her to continue looking after Patrice as best she could, while maintaining two jobs.

When Juliette died in 1940, Eliza, under the 'employment' of Le One Two Two, was retained for 'use' of the German intelligence for the rest of the duration of the Second World War.

Eliza died in her sleep, age 76, in 1978. She was survived by her son Harlon, and daughter Elizabeth-Jane.
