In Character Information

Full/Birth Name: Eddi Mae Wolston
Stage Name: May Wallstone
Preferred Name: Eddi by some, May by most others, 'My Ed' to Brona.
Birthdate: January 31st, 1902
Birthplace: Southampton, England
Family: Travels with The Galway family. Biological father, Harvey Wolston (deceased, WWI). Biological mother, Yrsa Benediktson (desceased, childbirth).
Education: Primary schooling.
Act: Underweight, weak heart. Weighs 61lbs at 5'4".

Appearance: The only way to describe May's physical appearance is skeletal. She weighs 61lbs at 5'4", and usually doesn't go below 59lbs, but occasionally weighs a little more (winter months + when the circus is slow). She has mousy blonde hair that varies between light brown and streaks of almost pure-white blonde. She has dark brown eyes, and aside from the eyes, she has a very aryan appearance. This is mostly due to her mother's heritage (Icelandic). She only speaks English (was born in Iceland but raised in a small district in Southampton, England called Swaythling).

Personality: Due to her physical appearance, most people assume she's shy. Her body language is somewhat reserved, but once approached, she has a conversational and friendly personality. She's spent a lot of time around a lot of people, and loves to answer questions about her act.

Personal Information: Eddi Mae is part Icelandic. Her father raised her Roman Catholic (from her grandfather's family), but her mother was raised Lutheran. Her father's decision to raise her RC was somewhat fluid, and he wanted to allow her to make her own decisions regarding religion. Since her father's death in 1917, she has mostly neglected the church, though the Galways attend a protestant Christmas and Easter service every year (if possible).

Eddi Mae

History: Eddi Mae was born to Yrsa Benediktsson and Harvey Wolston, on January 31st, 1902. Her birth was the result of a something. Her mother died in childbirth, leaving her father to return to England to raise her alone. Though always a small child, her father never thought to check with a doctor to make sure she was at a healthy weight/height ratio. However, when she had a TB scare at age 9, her father took her to a doctor. While it turned out to be just a cold, he remarked that she was unnaturally light for children her age. At this point, he also diagnosed her with a weak heart and told her father to keep a close eye on her development.

When her father was conscripted to leave for the First World War, she was placed in the care of her father's long-time neighbours, The Galway Family. Nervous about taking on a twelve-year-old, but willing to help in any way possible, they took on the small girl. Having already been close to the youngest child, Brona, who at the time was just barely four years old, she grew close to the family very quickly. She lived with the Galways throughout the entirety of the war, only learning of her father's death once the war had finished in November of 1918. She was 16, and already orphaned. The Galways, though struggling to support their five biological children, had grown so fond of Eddi that they decided to legally adopt her. She has lived with them ever since.

In 1919, they attended a show held by The Brooks Spectacular. They were approached by Thomas Brooks at the end of the show regarding Eddi Mae's weight. After some heated discussions and demands made by both the Galway family and TBS, an agreement was struck. Eddi Mae would be a counter-act for Victoria Barrows, and the Galways would help out behind the scenes. At the time, the family were still all together: David, 19; Oliver, 17; Eddi Mae, also 17; Anne, 14; Cale, 12; and Brona, 9. David and Oliver both unemployed, were enlisted to help their father with construction of cages and other physically strenuous activities. Louise was already a seamstress, and was immediately assigned to costumes. Anne helped out when she wasn't busy with schoolwork. Cale, too, in time, followed in his older brother's footsteps, and Brona (now age 14) helps with ticket sales when she's not doing schoolwork.

This arrangement was only supposed to continue until Eddi Mae turned 19, but in 1921, a few days before she was due to turn 19, Wesley asked her if she wouldn't mind continuing with the current arrangement. Fond of her pseudo-family, Eddi Mae happily agreed. The family live in two separate trailers. The boys (Cale and Wesley) share one (which was previously also occupied by David and Oliver), and the girls share another (Louise, Eddi Mae, Anne and Brona).
